Z51L9889
I've been slowly working on the first detail of my new G8 for the last several days. I took delivery of the car in late February. The car had holograms all over it from the dealer and they did a lousy job cleaning off the adhesive from the various protective coverings. Unfortunately, I also discovered that the car had a TON of what I think was rail dust contamination. I was turning a brand new piece of clay dark brown in about a 2' by 2' section. The contamination, whatever it was, appears to have damaged the clearcoat. I found little tiny holes and etching in the clear coat all over the horizontal surfaces of the car. The process was as follows: Wash Clay bar 1 pass SHR with an orange pad 1 pass FMP with a white pad 1 pass MSW 2 coats of Americana Windows cleaned with old formula Glass Cleaner and glass towels Trim dressed with VRT 1 coat of BSG on all paint, chrome, and glass The hood and roof look much better than I expected considering the clearcoat issues. I tried to capture the depth of the shine and the "wetness factor" in the pictures but they don't do it justice -- it's just looks incredible in person. As a side note, this was my first wash using a grit guard. I was amazed at how much stuff ended up in the bottom of the bucket. Now, on to the interior ......
