The Cyclo Debuts Tomorrow...

Team Adam's

Question

Well forum friends, as promised the Cyclo and the 4" microfiber pad systems will be making their debut tomorrow! After working with this tool extensively over the past few months, fitting it with our 4" plates, and testing it with the new polishes, foam pads, and microfiber pads we're very excited to see it finally made an official part of the Adam's line.

Some of you may have heard, the long tenured Porter Cable has reached the end of its run with us. Production of the tool has begun to shift to China, meaning we will no longer be offering the tool... BUT DON'T WORRY! We will continue to support the PC with pads, plates, and products compatible with it as it is still the most widely sold and used tool in the history of the polishing business. If you purchased your Porter Cable thru us we will continue to honor the lifetime warranty as well.

With this launch we finally also get to reveal the entire updated machine polishing video. We looked back at all the input we had gotten on the last few series of videos as well as paid attention to what questions were asked most common when customers were shopping for a machine and added chapters or scenarios to address those questions. Have a look at the complete video series here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4ju56j0wCCVIDhcVxoV_kUe1cATiKn_D

Our chapter on the machine differences is one thing we definitely were happy to shoot. One of the most common questions is "why this machine over that machine?" or "whats the difference?". Hope this helps explain:

Enjoy the videos, and stay tuned tomorrow as the Cyclo and 4" Microfiber Pad System is made available for purchase for the first time.

I've been looking at upgrading to the Flex from the PC, but seeing the Cyclo I wonder if it is the way to go. I love the old school power tool look of the Cyclo and it is made right down the road from Adams.

How effective is it as your main polisher? I'm not doing this as a profession, just my 2 cars a few for friends. I'm happy with the PC, but that vibration will get to you after a big car/SUV.

If you're satisfied with the performance of the PC you'd love the Cyclo. Definitely has an edge in correcting power IMO and with the lower vibration and ability to get into awkward spaces makes it a no brainer. You'd basically be getting a tool thats more comfortable to work with than what you have now, but with an edge in the ability to correct.

Looks kinda cumbersome to me... but I guess it may be decieving since they are only 4" pads.   I'd like to try one out!

I own/use one and thought the same when I pulled it from the box and stood there looking at the odd design.

It is unbelievably balanced with darn near zero vibration. The machine is easy to manuver!

Awesome video guys.  No showmanship, no fettuccine, linguine, martini, bikini.  Just awesome information delivered honestly by two experienced professionals who care about your experience with the products they recommend.  WELL DONE.

As for the Cyclo - this is old-school perfection - and no stranger to us Airstream fanatics too.  Really glad to see it part of the Adam's genuine lineup too.

The Cyclo has been the defacto choice for Airstreamers who take their dull oxidized aluminum trailer to full polished perfection.  It's a long, labourious process to achieve.  Imagine the square footage of surface area involved over a 31 or 34 ft Airstream - another reason the Cyclo is perfect. Other car-applicable advantages experienced with Airstreams (and Airplanes) is that the aluminum surfaces can be thin and soft - very prone to heat and buckling.  The balance and design of the Cyclo makes it safe for these applications, so it's perfect for your car (which today often includes aluminum panels too!)

Once again gentlemen, well done!

Why haven't you sold the Cyclo Until now. Made in the USA by Company local to you yet you never added to your lineup. Curious as to why?

We actually tried to make this happen in the past, but just couldn't get the results we wanted out of our pads/polishes with the cyclo. When we revamped the chemicals it was the perfect time to revisit it, plus with the PC going to China everything just fell into place.

The development of Paint Correcting Polish, Paint Finishing Polish, and the MF pads happened right along side the Cyclo so we could be sure that if we launched it we'd see the results we wanted from it as well as the Flex and other tools.

The Cyclo that we sell is actually completely different than the ones sold anywhere else, and its not just the handle on top.

By default the Cyclo comes with a bumper backing plate like this:

We didn't really care for the design and so we've had them make the tool for us with our 4" plates which are far more flexible and slightly smaller, meaning the edges of the pad are allowed to flex past the backing plate edge to hug contours better.

The lower weight and profile of the plate also slightly increases the rotational speed of the pads as well. Side by side we found that our system corrected slightly faster than the stock system all other factors being equal.

So long story short... we tried in the past and just couldn't get it to translate to the line. We obviously wanted to sell MADE IN THE USA from a local company, but not if we couldn't be confident in the product/results we'd be providing. Now with the polishing system fully revamped and to some degree made to work with the tool we can offer it and confidently endorse the results.

I just placed my order for the Cylco kit with both sets of pads.  Was recently looking at the Flex, but with the ability to work smaller areas and minimal vibration and the added versatility of carpets/seats/bedliner, I am hoping this will be a good fit for me. I'm sure I will end up buying a Flex as well eventually too, but will see how this works for me.
