compudiva
Does one have to wax after a clay bar? It was my understanding that a clay bar treatment does not remove the wax.
0 BKazzle
There are some variables. It depends on the clay bar and the amount of pressure you use. It also depends on the wax and/or sealant you currently have on. In most cases a medium to heavy duty clay bar WILL remove most of the wax on your car. Better to be cautious and wax after claying. 0 GerryC
Yes, claying will remove your wax coating. It's best to start with a bare surface anyway when you are going to clay, so you can more effectively remove the surface contaminants from your paint. Removing the wax during a "strip wash" is a good way to start. Simply mix a few ounces of APC into your regular wash bucket setup and wash the car as you normally would. After claying you can move on to polishing and waxing.
0 Kingsford
YES! I wouldn't take it out of the garage without wax on it. Claying removes waxes. Marylander
0 compudiva
Thanks for the info. Will be attempting a full detail this weekend- wash, clay bar, polish with a porter cable, sealant, wax and then glaze. Also doing the interior. New for me will be the polish and sealant. Wish me luck.
