There are some variables.

 

It depends on the clay bar and the amount of pressure you use. It also depends on the wax and/or sealant you currently have on.

 

In most cases a medium to heavy duty clay bar WILL remove most of the wax on your car.

 

Better to be cautious and wax after claying.

Yes, claying will remove your wax coating.

 

It's best to start with a bare surface anyway when you are going to clay, so you can more effectively remove the surface contaminants from your paint. Removing the wax during a "strip wash" is a good way to start. Simply mix a few ounces of APC into your regular wash bucket setup and wash the car as you normally would.

 

After claying you can move on to polishing and waxing.

Thanks for the info.  Will be attempting a full detail this weekend- wash, clay bar, polish with a porter cable, sealant, wax and then glaze.  Also doing the interior.  New for me will be the polish and sealant.  Wish me luck.

throw some glaze on before the wax.
