McMo
I have the older version 7424 still kicking around (not the newer XP). It is still in perfect working condition. My questions are, are all the products and accessories - polish, pads, backing plate - compatible with the older version? Is the technique essentially the same? I assume it will be slower going. I may eventually upgrade to something newer, but I would like to try this out first.
0 GerryC
Yes. I also have the non-xp version. It is basically the same machine, except the XP model can go up to 6800 opm (vs 6000) and has a longer cord. McMo
0 goheels
I have the XP version and I rarely crank it up all the way for polishing, as it causes too much vibration on my hands and I can work pretty effectively at slower speeds. IMHO, stick to the original or upgrade to a different (non-PC) machine. McMo
0 Team Adam's
Yep... nearly an identical tool to the XP... it was more an evolutionary change than anything. They moved the speed dial, rounded out the body a little and gave it about 800opm more at top speed. Your older 7424 will work just fine. 0 McMo
Thank you for the responses, everyone. I was hoping I could use this machine. Can't justify pulling the trigger on something else until I give this a go.
