1955 Chevy Bel Air

Ill keep this one short since the process was very similar to the 1956 Chevy Detail I completed. Wash, Clay, SSR, SHR, FMP, Revive, BG, APW and trashed my pads up in the process. The car was dripping wet when I was done and my client was extremely happy with the results.

Hey John, I looked at this thread and your '56 thread and didn't see anywhere that you polished any of the chrome. If you have, what is some suggestions on working on the bright work on these cars? Mine is going to be due for some love after its engine install and my deployment.

The chrome on both the 55 and 56 were in okay shape. No pitting just missing some shine that it should have. I played with a little Revive on them and saw results in certain areas i.e. in tight corners and other areas that looked almost like the chrome was faded or dull.

Overall I dressed all the chrome with Brilliant Glaze and saw huge improvements in the shine that I was looking for. To make sure I was getting improvements in the shine I did half of the bumper and removed. Stood back and could see the difference. Even my client checked it out and he was floored by the difference it made.

The most tedious areas of the chrome I worked on were the "button" like knobs that had lot's of build up around them. So before I applied any polish/glaze I used Waterless Wash and a small soft brush to scrub them clean.

Thanks John. I am afraid that the chrome on mine is going to need some MP 1 & 2 love when it is all said and done though. I know I could get away with BG in some areas though. Me thinks that I am going to have to do a butt load of masking, mount my MP pad on the PC and get at it! :pc:
