What is your career/job?

I am a rigger/welder. I work for a show in Vegas. My job is to maintain existing rigging equipment and to replace and build aging equipment.

Best job I've ever held! One day I'm hanging in a harness 110' off the the deck, next day I could be welding in the shop or scuba diving on stage(water show) or working nights and running a track in the show. 48c172fb-b4dd-44f6.jpg Been there for 8yrs and last year got a small promotion and I run the maintenance crew.

Work at a pharmaceutical contract manufacturing company. We do pre-clinical, clinical and commercial manufacturing. Our clients include big pharma, such as JNJ, Pfizer, Merck, and GSK. We work for a couple smaller companies too. I made the first 600k tablets of Viagra when I was in highschool. We make everything from AIDS drugs to narcotics.

Of the roughly 20 new approved drugs/year, at least 4 each year have gone through our shop. We have 30 employess, but are faster and make a better product than big pharma can.

One of our latest projects:

Medscape: Medscape Access

We've been working with Grunenthal for the last 3 years on a tamper-resistant tablet. Hopefully this will clean up a lot of the crap on the streets. Endo has done everything they can to prevent us from getting to market.

Every day I go into work knowing I'm improving people's lives and saving lives.

I'm working full time in medical records for a major hospital now and going to school full time at U of M studying healthcare administration

I'll be graduated in the summer of 2013 and going for a masters in either public policy or public administration - not sure yet.

What show? I'm going up for a long weekend in January and trying to decided what to see. I'm guess you're going to say your show is good. :)

As for me, I write software for the iPhone, iPad, and Macs. I'm luckily in that I have a good paying profession that I enjoy and have fun doing. If anyone's company needs an app written, you know where to go. :glasses:

I work for Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio for the "O" show. Yes I am going to say my show is good, because, well, it IS good!:)

I would suggest seeing "O" or "Love" or "Ká". Those are my three favorites! Enjoy your time in Vegas!!

Haha. I've been in Michigan a few times, but never done a whole implementation for any clients there. Are you having trouble with a new software or just need something else to be better? :xfingers:

We are implementing Epic in August to transfer over from Streamline. Our main campus goes live in August, 3 months later each other subsidiary hospital will go live for the next 3 periods (3 subsidiary hospitals, each 3 months apart).

It's going to be a challenge to adopt the paperless system, but it's creating new jobs for our department and for that, I am thankful. Hey... maybe they will be needing a supervisor for that :)

I'm intimately familiar with what will be your new system.

It's definitely not an insignificant process or project...hence the year-long install (which is still fairly short considering what gets accomplished). My work is more on the billing side, but I've been through several enterprise installs before. There are changes that happen, but part of our job is to make the best decisions for the customer (and the people who work there).

If you ever have any questions about the process or anything in general, feel free to reach out to me.

I'll keep that in mind :2thumbs:

I have been a service plumber for 20 years. I have been in business myself for 7 of those and have two service trucks. I've been blessed in my business many times over.

As far as it being an "eclectic" group of people, I find most hobbies to be that way. I'm also a cyclist and ride a bicycle with different groups of people over 7,000 miles a years, regardless of the weather. In our groups you'll have a plumber (me), an engineer, several Dr's (lots of Docs and people in the medical profession), a salesman, mechanic, and on and on. It definately lends itself to some interesting conversation.
