Ya know Chewy, I used to hate hate hate Metal Polish and tips and such. Since Hot August Nights, I have found a new love for this little niche of detailing, in part, thanks to this writeup.

Thanks!

It's amazing what so little work can do to make a car pop.

Why does everyone use gloves when using the MP?

So they don't get all the gunk coming off the tips on their hands. I wear nitrile gloves when putting SVRT on the tires for the same reason.

YEP! My wife isn't a huge fan of dirt under the fingertips and honestly, neither am I!

That black stains!

I get mine for next to nothing at work. We sell them.

I use them for a lot of tasks.

Hey guys,

I have a stainless system that came off of the car that I'm looking to polish up a little bit before I sell. I will be doing the muffler and tips. The tips are chrome and seem to have some rust spots. I planned on using some 0000 steel wool and some Adam's metal twins to shine up the muffler and the tips. My question is, do you think w/ the 0000 steel wool and polishes that it will remove some of the rust marks on the exhaust? Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the exhaust, but can post a picture tomorrow before I get started to see what you guys think.

Use WD-40 as a lubricant for the 0000 steel wool and the rust will come off. However, the little spots through the stainless the rust is coming from will still be there. Throw some sealant or wax on them to keep the rust from reappearing to quickly.
