  1. Rich, yeah I stay in the loop on that. The city didn't like that H2o was the same weekend as Sunfest. Hopefully this year there will be less issues with the idiots ruining things for the rest of us. We are finding the place we have rented from for almost 10 years isn't renting to anyone for H2o weekend. So we are on the hunt for a place with a decent sized condo/house with a garage. It's sad, because we like Ocean City a lot, but when a certain group of people get out of control it makes everyone look bad and the city doesn't really want us back :/
  2. If you seal your wheels with Quick Sealant you shouldn't need more than car wash soap to clean the wheels with occasional deep wheel cleaner. I ususally get 3-4 months on wheels with quick sealant before I have to really clean them with DWC and re-seal.
  3. I use Quick Sealant after getting my wheel wells to that point. Undercarriage spray is very similar to bare bones. Good for black plastics wheel liners. Doesn't last long in rain, etc.
  4. Looks like a fun show! I head out there for H2oI at the end of September every year. If you haven't tried it the Jewish Deli off of like 54th (could be wrong but it is near that area) is AMAZING
  5. When I did my wheel wells I used a couple different brushes. Mostly a tire and lugnut brush though. No pressure washer. You can use Adam's APC at full strength or at 1:1 Undercarriage spray is a dressing for wheel wells. Good for after the car is clean. For reference:
  6. Also you were working half the hood at once? Might want to break it down into 1/4's. The larger the area the longer the polish has time to dry up between passes, especially if you are dealing with warm panels. Work a smaller area at a time. 2 foot x 2 foot sections is the general rule of thumb.
  7. I've always wanted a 951. Good looking p-car
  8. This turned out killer! And makes me excited about the AIO. Aiming for something with good longevity and that finishes down nicely? Reminds me I have a write up I've been meaning to post since last October.
  9. Finally got to try this out. I had mixed feelings about it when I first started applying it, but then I got to thinking about how much less effort it needed compared to applying say LPS. No worry about getting it on trim, or having to deal with missing some product in panel gaps. And dealing with tight spaces is a non-issue too. Also surprised at how little was needed to do the car. As others have said, after the towel has been primed it doesn't take much to keep it going.
  10. Surprised to see you in something other than a Chevy! Good lookin truck.
  11. The only person I charge from my family is my Mom. She told me Santa wasn't real, so she has to pay full price. I'm kidding of course. She actually just leaves one of her cars with me for a week or so and it comes back clean for free. Depending on how good of a friend it is I will make them run one of the buffers and pay for product, food for the day, and beer that night/during the detail. Otherwise they get my normal rate and a bit of a discount off of it. Sometimes it isn't worth discounting your work if they wouldn't have appreciation for it.
  12. WeatherTechs makes a nice mat. Just disappointing that I can never find mats for older vehicles (I understand it is an issue of the mfg being able to sell them and volume for a mold.) Glad I saw this since I was about to order some Lloyds mats for my car and my moms car. Guess I will keep looking. I only use carpeted mats for show use. Otherwise rubber mats stay in the car.
  13. I've been looking into this myself for future use. Planning on painting the GTI this summer and I wanted to protect the roof, hood, fenders, mirrors, front bumper, etc. Anyone have experience installing it? Figured I would at least give it a shot on the hood as it is a fairly flat panel.
  14. I caught a few minutes of an auction a month or so ago. The outside of the car was detailed and then they popped the hood of this Mercedes to an absolute mess. Like they didn't even try to clean the bay at all.
  15. You can work around the streaking issue with TID on smoother plastics by following up with a dry towel to even it out.
  16. Pipe dope > Teflon tape. Learned that the hard way when doing my air system and chasing down leaks.
  17. I can mix up some car shampoo in a spray bottle to sell to you As everyone else has said just regular car shampoo and wheel brushes after the wheels have been deep cleaned and sealed.
  18. The Ryobi pressure washers use the same fittings as a Bosch pressure washer FYI.
  19. I've never had a bottle crack, but plenty of sprayer failures, especially with Leather and Interior Cleaner.
  20. Buddy stopped by with some of his gallon for me to try out. Smells nice. Hopefully I will have some time this week to wash the car and test it out. Surprised at how thick of a consistency it was. I was expecting thin.
  21. That's what I was thinking... Pretty cheap part considering visibility is a safety issue.
  22. Hopefully you don't run into that issue. My new go to for bottles (at least Adam's stuff) is the 32oz empties that Adam's sells with a Tolco chemical resistant sprayer on it.
  23. The blue clay is really nice after you work it for a bit. Its a bit stiffer, but as was mentioned it doesn't stick to your hand like the old clay did.
  24. Both of mine have failed. Same issue on both. The sprayer head separated from the bottom portion of the sprayer and lost the little ball bearing that acts as a backflow prevention valve. Damn near hit my trunk with a bottle when the first one failed.
