  1. It definitely helped clean up the edges, thanks for the suggestion
  2. I painted the V6 red and outlined the white areas as well. This look reminds me of the Intimidator Monte Carlos You can see in the last pic where I originally scraped the cover. Again, not 100% perfect, but for what I actually put into it, I think it came out pretty decent.
  3. My only concern would be peeling due to high temps. I may leave the cover off and just take it with me to shows to put on while parked. Gonna go pick up some red paint and a pinstripe brush and give this a shot tonight.
  4. Len, you gave me an idea with suggesting the V6 being another color. The areas between the white and black are recessed, and this is where much of the overspray is that makes the lines slightly crooked. I am thinking of getting some red and taking a thin brush to outline the white. Here's a crude photoshop of the idea. Any suggestions?
  5. Ryan try going to them directly and let me know what you see: http://gtawh.com/gwizz/photos/G8/enginecover5.jpg
  6. I would have done that too but this one was literally one of two for sale in my whole state when I was looking. Both were V6's, but the other was an 08, had more miles, and no options. Oh, and it was black
  7. I would have left it off too but I hate the way the V6 looks under the cover.
  8. * Updates on page 3 * This actually happened by accident. I was detailing my engine bay so it's nice for the Norwood detail clinic on Saturday, and I scraped part of the engine cover. Things were said that I can't repeat on here, and decided to paint over it. I had to scrub the entire thing with IPA so the tape would stick. Masking took about 90 minutes. When I was done I had what resembled a very poorly-iced cake: The tough parts were the thin lines on top and the design around the V6 logo. An xacto knife is your friend here: Took it outside for 4 coats of Krylon Fusion: After I was happy with the coverage, I waited 20 minutes for it to dry and peeled off a test piece to check the lines. So far so good. Brought it back inside to do the rest. Don't need any bird bombs or bugs ruining my day It came out far from perfect, and there are a few spots of overspray which I managed to remove with paint thinner and a Qtip. And installed Total time: 2 1/2 hours Cost of supplies: $11 Neighbors offended: 1 Sure beats spending hundreds and waiting a week. Also that whole sense of accomplishment and yadda yadda.
  9. Yes, when they moved production to Bowling Green.
  10. Definitely a C4, judging by the color I'm guessing it's 84-90
  11. That unfortunately could be the beginning of clear coat failure. Difficult to tell in pictures but it may also just be stubborn cloudiness. Try some Swirl & Haze Remover by hand to see if it clears it up.
  12. Also a tip, keep a few toothpicks in your glove box for if/when something gets stuck in one of the holes.
  13. Decided to perform some minor surgery on my 88 coupe and pull out the reproduction stockers, 1. because they've began to rust, and 2. because they just look ugly. This completes the a full catback install You may want to shield your eyes at how dirty the car is... I haven't done any kind of detailing on the vette since september, but that's next on my to-do list and expect a topic dedicated to that soon Before: During: After: Videos: Idling outside(and after some Adam's Metal Polish 1 & 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GFWCOWh4fM Rev (this is before polishing the tips) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-RsGsh5loM
  14. looks like you're brewing beer in the washer can't wait to try this stuff
  15. yeah those pontiac guys are jerks I mean, who do those vette guys think they are... wait ...
  16. sounds exactly like how I do mine as well. I forgot how many applications it took before the darkness stayed long enough to enjoy it, that leather is thirsty. but once it does, it looks fabulous
  17. I use it on my leather jacket and people compliment that my cologne smells like new car
  18. a small splash of bleach mixed into the water you are going to soak your towels in will help with the stains. My white drying towel gets giant pink spots after use, and that tiny bit of bleach in the water makes all the difference. when I use bleach, i wash the drying towel seperately from the plush ones
  19. I've used both for wheel wells and I found that depending on the type of material in your wheel well, UCS will make them look much darker, almost jet black (or *invisible*) I still find myself alternating between the 2 to see how the results differ from car to car.
  20. Yea the foliage here looks amazing during autumn, shame it doesn't last too long. Thanks guys!
